The Morgan County Historical Society is forming an outreach group to invite the towns of Morgan County the opportunity to contribute their history or artifacts they would like to include in our museum and to share the many records we have on past and present towns. We are excited for everyone in Morgan County to become a part of our Historical Society which was established in 1966. We want to not only preserve and share the past of Versailles, the county seat, but all of our wonderful county's history for everyone to explore. We are proud of the representation for each community we have compiled. The organization was formed in Versailles due to the close access to the county records we have and managed to acquire the Martin Hotel to display the artifacts and house those records. We have 26 rooms full of artifacts not only from Versailles but all communities of the county. We also have installed updated security for our building to ensure the safety of those artifacts.
